Who we are

The Basement View is published by the people who write it, under the name The Basement View. For anything on this page: reply to any issue - replies are read by the authors - or message @thebasementview on Instagram.

What we collect

• Your email address, when you subscribe. That is the only thing we ask for.
• Standard email delivery data. Our email platform, beehiiv, records whether a letter was delivered and opened and which links were clicked, along with an approximate location and device type inferred from your connection - as every email platform does.
• Nothing else. This website has no accounts and no comments. The subscribe box is the one form it has: the address you type is passed straight to beehiiv, which keeps the list, so what happens to it from there is covered by beehiiv’s privacy policy.

What we do with it

We send you the letters you signed up for, and we look at how many people open them. We do not sell your address, share it for marketing, or run third-party advertising.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies of its own. We do not run analytics on this site at present; if that changes it will be cookie-free and noted here.

Where it lives

The subscriber list is held by beehiiv, Inc., in the United States. The website is served by Cloudflare. Neither is given anything beyond what the services need to work.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe in one click, at the bottom of every email. It takes effect immediately.
• See, correct or delete what we hold about you: get in touch as above and we will do it within thirty days, usually far sooner.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything material gets a line in the next letter.
