The record

The Basement Book is a real Polymarket wallet, read live from the chain, so nothing on it can be edited or quietly removed. The letter is canon; the site follows it, never the other way round.

Money

The letter is free. As of September 2026 it carries no sponsors, no affiliate links and nothing for sale. If a sponsor ever appears it will be labelled as one, on the tape or in the issue, and it will have no say in what the letter covers or what the Book buys. A sponsor will never be a party to a market the letter is pricing.

Positions and conflicts

The letter is written by more than one person, and none of them writes under their own name. That exempts no one. Where an author has a professional connection to the subject of an issue, the issue says so at the top. If an author holds a position in a market the letter prices, the issue says so where that market is discussed. The letter has no arrangement of any kind with a prediction-market platform; the prices it quotes are from public order books and can be checked by anyone.

Numbers and sources

Prices are Polymarket’s, taken at the time stated in the issue and on the Book, and quoted with the volume and resting liquidity behind them, because a price with no money behind it is not a price. Official documents are quoted from the primary source - the department, the agency, the congressional record - and named in the text. Every number in an issue is checked against its source before it is sent.

AI

Research, data pulls and the production of this site use AI tools. Every figure they produce is checked against its source before it appears in print. Every word and every position is the authors’ decision, and nothing is sent without their sign-off.

Readers

Your address is used to send the letter and for nothing else; the detail is on the privacy page. Replies are read by the authors.

Corrections

Spotted an error? reply to any issue - replies are read by the authors - or message @thebasementview on Instagram. Corrections run in the next issue and, where they touch the book, as a dated note on the Book. Nothing is quietly fixed.
